WHAT IS AMP?

What is AMP?

The Antleader Mentorship Program (AMP) is a student-led leadership-based mentorship program partnered with ASUCI focused on aiding first year students in their transition into the four-year university life here at UC Irvine and developing professional and leadership skills to last throughout their college years and beyond. Although we are a service available to first year students, AMP is primarily focused on catering to first-generation low-income first year students.

how do i become a mentee?

how do i become a mentor?

Applications to be an AMP mentee open during the summer before an academic year and are open until the Friday of Week 1 until 5PM. Only first year students are legible to be an AMP mentee! Unfortunately we have limited mentors and resources so the application process is very selective. Mentees are selected on a needs basis and whether or not the mentors we have part of the program are able to best fit a first year student's needs. When applying to be an AMP mentee we ask that you provide as much information about yourself in the given prompts so we can do our best to find a mentor who can help you the best.

Applications to be an AMP mentor open during Winter Quarter some time during Weeks 1-3 and will be open until Week 5. The interview round will start immediately after that. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applicants, not everyone will be offered an interview. Anyone can apply, whether you're a first year or third year. Additionally, you do not have to be a previous AMP mentee to apply to be a mentee! Results for the mentor application status are released Week 10 of Winter Quarter.

amp commission 2019-2020

Comission

what does amp commission do?

The Antleader Mentorship Program Commission is a team of individuals dedicated to the overall success and wellbeing of the program and building a sense of community for all of its participants. This team of leaders is responsible for guiding their fellow student mentors in navigating the trials and challenges that come with being a mentor for a first year student.  Commission members are responsible for all workshops, socials, and family dynamics in the program.

EXECUTIVE

The AMP Exec Team is responsible for managing each sub-committee, developing external relationships on campus, and ensuring that the program is consistently working towards the mission statement. Since AMP is closely related to ASUCI as part of the Office of Academic Affairs, the executive team is the primary connection between the program and ASUCI administration. In addition, the commissioners and assistant commissioners are responsible for all administrative work of the program such as record-keeping, executing pilots of the program, and conducting research with UROP.

community

Our Community Coordinators play a vital role in accomplishing a huge part of our mission statement -- developing a sense of belonging at UCI. These two commission members are responsible for creating inclusive socials with the intent to foster a comfortable yet challenging environment for the program's participants. On top of socials, they are responsible for connecting the program as a whole in order through spaces such as study / coffee hours or resources such as class guides and contact lists.

workshops

Our Workshop Coordinators provide the very backbone of what the Antleader Mentorship Program stands for. These two commission members work meticulously to create detailed and engaging workshops to help first year students transition into their college life and well as to challenge them to understand diversity and how it applies to being a leader. Our 1.3 unit class is every Tuesday from 5PM-7PM and mentees must be able to enroll. Fall Quarter workshops are primarily based on campus resources, administrative procedures, academic advising, and  professionalism. Winter Quarter workshops are focus on diversity and empathy, covering a range of topics including: identity and privilege, the LGBTQIA+ community, first-generation and low-income lives, and more. Our workshops are largely discussion and self-reflection based, utilizing mentors as resources to write articles or to facilitate discussions during class.

lead mentors

The four Lead Mentors are very much the face of AMP for the mentees. The program consists of four families, or smaller groups of mentors and mentees, so that we are able to start building connections and a sense of belonging in smaller groups. Lead mentors are responsible for coordinating socials for their family and having one-on-one hangouts with each mentee to understand their needs better. As a direct connection between the mentees and commission, the lead mentors play a huge role in shaping the AMP mentee experience.

media & publicity

The AMP experience is full of memories, and the two Media & Publicity Coordinators are here to capture it all! On top of capturing and highlighting all the memories of AMP, MP is also responsible for creating all publicity materials for mentee and mentor recruitment including graphics, flyers, and videos. They also coordinate projects throughout the year to engage the community through social media such as photo challenges, Humans of AMP, and other projects in tangent with our Workshop Coordinators.
